SUNDAY CLASSES: Fall 2011 Semester (August 28th – October 16th)

Prophecy and the Coming of Christ- Sundays 9:30 am / Teacher – Pastor Elwood Rakes / WC 105:
We will be studying Matthew 24 along with many of the New Testament promises of Jesus’ Second Coming. Along with our study, we will explore the prophet Daniel and his vision of the Seven Years of Tribulation. A book (Commentary) on Daniel will be made available to the class for study. Class will be provided with extensive notes about prophecy.  Join us each Sunday for this nine week study.

Communication within the Kingdom of God- Sundays 9:30 am / Teachers – Jan Knight & Chris Steinbacher / WC 202:
In what ways does God communicate Himself to His people?  How can we heighten our awareness of Him so that we might experience personal “God moments” that bring inward change?  This class will explore how God speaks to His church through such topics as prayer, dreams, visions, and parables (where life and God connect) in scripture and in life. Our quest is to develop more sensitivity to the voice of the Holy Spirit to enable us to more effectively expand the Kingdom of God.

The Table – Young Adult’s Class- Sundays 9:30 am / Teachers – Ashley & Felix Reyes / WC 203:
The Table is about growing in intimacy with Jesus.  We believe God is calling out the names of our generation because He longs for intimacy with us. If you are hungry for more of God and desire to hear from Jesus, then come and join other young adults at “The Table”.

Parents of Teens & Elementary Schoolers- Sundays 9:30 am / Teachers – David & Donna Spencer, Kurt & Nancy Myers / WC 204:
This class is designed to equip and provide relationships, discipleship, and encouragement to parents of elementary school and teenage children.

Covenant Couples- Sundays 9:30 am / Teachers – Pastors Paul & Evie Kendall, Joe & Robbyn Szvetitz / WC 207:
A class for married couples of all ages to come together to learn from God's Word as well as from each other. If you're a young couple looking to connect and learn or an older couple looking to mentor and share, this class--based on the Biblical model of the older generation teaching the younger generation--is for you.

WEDNESDAY "DEEPER SERIES" CLASSES: Fall 2011 Semester (August 31st- October 19th)

"The Whole Family: Parenting Class"- Wednesdays 7:00 pm / Teachers – Greg & Dedie Blackburn / WC Worship Suite:
Learn biblical principles, proven methods, and insightful tips that will help you raise a godly child.

Liderazgo Intencional / Intentional Leadership- Wednesdays 7:00 pm / Teacher – Pastor Israel Ortiz / WC 202:
El verdadero líder está llamado a influenciar los factores que van a decidir el mañana de su gente. ¿Alguna vez te has sentido acorralado y encerrado sin ideas vi alternativas? Que lo único que te cruza la mente es renunciar; que no lo vas a poder lograr; que solo tienes un mes para tomar una decisión. No sabes que vas a hacer con el negocio; el ministerio está estancado; tu familia está en crisis, etc. Entonces esta clase es para ti.

Single Women’s Class- Wednesdays 7:00 pm / Facilitators - Holli Van Rijn & Tracy Boaz / WC 206:
For all single women 18+ (single mom, divorced, never married, widow, etc). Every little girl dreams of being romanced, being swept into a great adventure, and being a beautiful princess. And yet, when women grow up, they often exchange those dreams for a life filled with duty and demands. But Jesus came to restore your heart as a woman, and set you free through His love.  Join us as we study the book Captivating by John and Stasi Eldridge and recover our feminine hearts.

Daughters of Destiny and Men with Purpose- Wednesdays 7:00 pm / Teachers – John and Marsha Hancock / WC 207:
Do you ever wonder, "Why do I repeat the same destructive behaviors? How did my broken childhood affect who I am today and the decisions I have made? Why are my relationships damaging?" Continuing with the journey from broken pasts, into whole futures, John and Marsha Hancock will be leading a group for women and men using the book Broken Children, Grown-Up Pain: Understanding the Effects of Your Wounded Past by Dr. Paul Hegstrom. Because of the content of the subject, the men and women will be together for the teaching but separated for group time. This is open to anyone who is struggling from the effects of childhood abuse including abandonment, verbal, emotional, physical or sexual abuse and is ready to see a change in their lives.

Online and Other Classes: Fall 2011 Semester (August 28th- October 16th):

Understanding God’s Will- Self-directed Study / Facilitator – Will Perkins:
There are few, if any, more misunderstood and complex matters in Christian life than discovering and discerning God’s will for your life. During this accessible yet in-depth study you will walk through the scriptures and gain a deeper understanding of God’s will. This self-directed study will follow the timeline of the Christian Education semester and will gather at least twice during the semester for optional group dialogue and reflection. Additionally, the class will have the option of gathering virtually on The City to discuss their thoughts. For more information, visit wsfirst.com/comingevents.
